Call for Submissions: ‘Praxis: Film and Visual Arts’ by HFF School of Film and Visual Arts

The HFF School of Film and Visual Arts is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions to Praxis: Film and Visual Arts, a six-month intensive program designed for fresh graduates and early-career professionals in film, photography, and multidisciplinary arts. This unique opportunity is targeted at Bangladeshi practitioners eager to deepen their knowledge of visual storytelling, film theory, and practical production techniques.

Program Overview

The Praxis program offers a robust curriculum covering six comprehensive modules, including specialized topics in camera techniques, narrative forms, multidisciplinary art, screenwriting, and post-production. Participants will engage in 48 online sessions, held twice weekly, to build a solid foundation in film and visual arts. Additionally, the program will include two in-person gatherings, either in Dhaka or Rangamati, providing a valuable chance to connect with peers and mentors.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Age: 18-30, or anyone who feels this program will advance their career.
  • Nationality: Bangladeshi.
  • Languages: Participants should be proficient in Bangla, English, or their mother tongue.
  • Other: No submission or course fees. Internet access is required for online sessions, and participants must cover costs for any travel related to in-person events.

Program Curators

Curated by prominent Bangladeshi filmmakers Adit Dewan and Jaheen Faruque Amin, Praxis brings together deep expertise and a shared commitment to fostering the next generation of visual storytellers.

  • Adit Dewan is an acclaimed filmmaker and the driving force behind the Hill Film Festival. Known for his docu-fiction Not Only the Ants’ Story (2024) and recipient of the Prince Claus Seed Award, Adit brings a rich perspective on indigenous narratives.
  • Jaheen Faruque Amin is an award-winning writer and filmmaker from Dhaka, known for his contributions to the celebrated film Hawa. With a background in Arts and Aesthetics, Jaheen co-founded the Auteur Collective, focusing on advancing screenwriting and film in Bangladesh.
