Masterclass on Cinematography with Barkat Hossain Polash Engages Aspiring Filmmakers

On October 25 and 26, 2024, the HFF School of Film and Visual Arts, in collaboration with Ground Zero Bangladesh, held a two-part masterclass on cinematography led by acclaimed cinematographer Barkat Hossain Polash. Known for his exceptional work on films like Jalal’s Story, The Last Post Office, and the popular web series Taqdeer and Mohanagar, Polash shared his expertise with emerging Bangladeshi filmmakers.

During these sessions at Ground Zero Bangladesh, Polash offered an in-depth look into the art and technique of cinematography, discussing lighting, framing, and visual storytelling. Drawing from over a decade of experience and his involvement in international platforms like Berlinale Talents and Kyoto Film Lab, Polash inspired participants with his dedication to crafting visually compelling narratives.

This masterclass was part of Praxis: Film and Visual Arts, a six-month program aimed at nurturing Bangladeshi filmmakers and visual artists in the early stages of their careers. Out of numerous applicants, ten aspiring cinematographers were selected to attend, benefiting from personalized insights into the craft.

The event highlights HFF School of Film and Visual Arts and Ground Zero Bangladesh’s commitment to advancing cinematic talent and supporting creative education in Bangladesh.
